On the Path to Excellence…
Dear Wonderful BMSS Families, I would like to start by thanking each and every parent for your continued support, patience and understanding with our weaknesses, challenges and problems during my transition period. Despite having 30 full years of experience at all levels of education, I am still happily learning new things with each passing day as our students do.
Although each state and country has its own difficulties and challenges, it is also true that meeting with new people, knowing new cultures, working together with so many different people from numerous backgrounds also help me to understand the school, teachers, students and parents in a better and faster way. The support and warm welcome I have received from you helped me to adapt to this great sunshine state.
During my interview, I made a promise to the School Board: “BMSS will be one of the top three charter schools in the State”. I know by experience that hard work always pays off. Our school will, sooner or later be among the top three. In the state. After meeting all of you and seeing your dedication and support to our school, and our one-one meetings, school events, field trips, and volunteering, I feel more confident about reaching our goals academically. In addition, we will also make our school one of the safest and most fun places for our students while offering our teachers a great environment to teach and challenge our students daily.
Our Monday tutoring has already started. On Saturday, December 3rd, we will begin our Saturday Academy for those who are in need of extra help with their academics. Meanwhile, most of the clubs have been meeting for several weeks. Our teachers sent you the schedule for those clubs. Please make sure you know your child’s club day(s) so that you will not have to wait for 45 minutes during the dismissal time.
Also, we had our first field trip in October. Our K-2nd graders went to the Butterfly Park and had a chance to observe nature more closely. Such learning experiences will be remembered for a lifetime. That’s why field trips, science experiments, coding and other hands-on learning experiences play an important role in our curriculum.
I am also planning to start my award field trips soon. I might be seen as a disciplinary figure at the school most of the time; However, my fun side as a principal is a lot stronger. I am a good chef, so I like cooking and spending time with our students. I also like studying with our students, celebrating their successes, giving them the best awards whenever possible and playing games with them. We have upgraded all the desktops in our computer labs, so your children will come home with a permission slip when we organize game nights at the school.
Since we have almost established our school system, I will have more time to talk and listen to our students and parents from now on.
Please do not hesitate to walk in whenever you have time for a cup of coffee. My daughter-in-law, who is from the Dominican Republic, brought us a lot of coffee gift bags . I will make sure I am free and the coffee is fresh when you come in if I know about your visit in advance. This is our school and we will keep working together to educate our children and prepare them for a bright future.
Again, thank you very much for all your support. I am looking forward to celebrating our students’ successes together.
Warmest regards,
Mr. Kose
